Any comments on this player.
Is it much better than the old(er) Ikemi?
I am currently checking out a few options of used and ex dem equipment from my dealer.

Not to sure but to be honest I always found the Ikemi less musical than the Genki https://linn.forumotion.com/cdp-and-amplification-f2/afternoon-demo-of-various-used-ex-dem-linn-equipment-t28.htm

Re: Linn Majik CD player
I'd suggest a Linn Majik CD Player over a Linn Ikemi simply because it makes sense the DAC is newer, unless you are going for second-hand (in which case a used Majik may be hard to find, though you may find an ex dem version about if you look hard).
Personally I can't get on with the new Linn styling but thats just me

Re: Linn Majik CD player
CD12 is still the industry standard IMO and for £10,000 price difference there is not £10,000 worth of sound difference between a CD12 and a Majik cd player.
It is a bargain at the price. It wipes the floor with much more expensive cd players. Just get the black one though, the silver one looks like an oversized alarm clock ..

Re: Linn Majik CD player
I have also bought the Majik cd (also in black )and can say it's an excellent player!
I like Naim too - although I find the sound a little more electonical -.
Im not sure though that you can still call the CD 12 the industry std, even Linn have now improved on it and the Naim 555 possibly just sits in front of it (though Naim is a sound you either love or can't get on with IMO).
What is true is that the Majik cd really is a bargain. It's very musical and you can't go wrong with it. It has the best price for what it brings and gives you 90% of the Linn cd12, which has even more authority with bass music.

Re: Linn Majik CD player
Hi!
I'm testing now this nice looking CD Player!
It sounds very good, but i think the Player have some bugs........
1. It's not possible to see the track number and time elapsed simultaneously, but the Display is big enough for showing all this inforamtions.
I allready sent a Mail to Linn because i think a Softwareupdate can fix this "Problem".
2. The Player takes a very long time to load a "normal" Audio Disc (You have to know: the Player have a DVD Drive), it needs 10-15 sec.
Best Regards
Antal
Sorry for my poor english!

As You can see, my amp is also black.

It's not a big problem, but mostly i'm listening my CDs in shuffle mode and in this case it can be very useful if You can see which track You listen.
How are you finding the sound from the start..
Not bad, but if i can tell the true, i didn't had the "WOW Effect" from the beginning, but i think my ears have to accustom to this sound.
Best Regards
Antal

Re: Linn Majik CD player
Wow, this forum is still alive?
Nice Kit Antal, you need to make it sing by getting it on a nice stand or isolating it a little.. ... Trust me though it will bed in and sound better and better in a month or two.. Im also happier with the two elements side by side rather than stacked, even though the power supply is switchable and clean its still near some delicate electronics.
Anyway enough of the boring tech speak off to listen to some music..the weather is grim today after a lovely yesterday..

That depends only on us, but i think we have to keep this nice forum alive!

It's allready done. I'm using 4 Pieces of the "ViaBlue Tri Absorber":

It's true, i'm really surprised from day to day. But my only big problem is the weak DVD drive in this CDP.
Im also happier with the two elements side by side rather than stacked
Thank You for the advice, i will try it!

Re: Linn Majik CD player
Do those ViaBlue Tri Absorbers work? I ask because the explanation for how they work on the website is gibberish - vibration can be transferred through a point (or 3 points) just the same as through a flat contact.

No Antal, I've never heard any benefit from custom feet with my kit. I've often used Blu-Tac as a compliant interface between the kit and the furniture it rests on (particularly speakers and their stands), and it's been very effective.Ungaro wrote:Do You have any recommendation for a feet which really works?
